It was so great meeting all of you! All of the volunteers were really impressed with what you all created, and they had a ton of fun helping you make something unique. What’s Next
March 16, 2013: Career and Resume Workshop. We’re working with tech recruiters to put together a fun and hands-on workshop to help you figure out what kind of tech-related career you would love and create a perfect resume to apply to our (and other) internships with! We may also help you to create a LinkedIn profile if you don’t already have one. More details to come! Snacks will be provided; tentative time is 1-4, although as we nail down the actual activities you’ll be doing, that may chance. RSVP here so we make sure to have enough snacks and advisors! Oh! And we also have a raffle prize that you’re eligible for if you come. It’s a gift certificate to Saturday Academy, worth up to $200 toward a computer-related class. Their classes are amazing!
Ongoing: Follow-up workshops. These are with your workshop team and will depend on when you and your team are available. If you haven’t already heard from your workshop team leads, stay tuned! We are still compiling the survey results that include how many of you want to keep working on your projects and when you’re available. Your team leads are really excited to keep working with you!
Mentors: Mentors will be assigned in the near future. Now that we know how many of you would like a mentor, we need to get on our mentor recruitment!
Internships: We already have 8-10 internships that we are nailing down for you this summer so far, and we plan to get a bunch more. We will announce those at the Career and Resume Workshop and then send that information out to those of you who aren’t able to make it to the workshop. We strongly encourage you to come to the Workshop so we can help you get your resume in perfect shape!
Late April/Early May: ChickTech: Career. ChickTech: Career is a sliding scale fee workshop somewhat like ChickTech: High School, except that it’s for women of all ages and everyone there will create a project from one of the workshops (instead of having seven different ones going on at the same time). We ask that participants pay what they can. If there were other workshops you really wanted to participate in from ChickTech: High School, this could be your chance! More info to come!
